HIS CURSE TO BEAR

Enigmatic and strong-willed werewolf Kane LaRue realizes the benefits of doing things in a pack. But not this time. He feels responsible for the additional terror a Voodoo priestess has leveled on his family, and has vowed to stop at nothing to end her reign of terror. He almost had Delphine once, and this time, he’s promised himself that he will succeed in wiping her from the face of the earth—or die trying. But when her followers almost destroy him, Kane is forced to accept the help of a stunning and fiercely independent woman who makes Kane re-evaluate what’s important…and listen to his heart.

HER WILL TO SURVIVE

Elise is a survivor, but because of the tragic events of her past, she has chosen to live out her days in the bayou, helping the animals she loves and giving back as much as she can to the community that literally saved her life. When a gorgeous dog she tries to save turns out to be so much more, Elise is compelled to let someone in—and faces things about herself she isn’t entirely comfortable with. But the breathtakingly handsome shifter makes her feel things she hasn’t experienced in ages, and she soon realizes that she needs Kane’s help as much as he needs hers. Together, they are unstoppable, and if they’re lucky, they just might rid the world of the evil that has plagued New Orleans for much too long.

3.5 Good vs. Evil stars

Kane and his family have been battling evil for much too long. Now that everyone is mated, well, everyone but Kane, he’s decided to take on the evil voodoo priestess, Delphine, all by himself in order to protect those he cares about. He gets seriously injured for his efforts and luckily a veterinarian, Elise, was the one to find him and nurse him back to health. After revealing his intention to basically martyr himself for the cause, Elise won’t let him go without joining the fight.

I felt real good when I started this. I figured that the opening scene would set the tone for the rest of this book. Nothing like a bit of violence to start a story off right. It took a little nosedive when I read the words, “All her life, she’d been a bit OCD with things. And once she made her daily schedule, she hated when things interfered or prevented her from keeping to it”, because I’m one of those diagnosed with OCD and don’t like when it’s used so cavalierly. It hurts.

Thankfully things after that were much more smooth sailing. There was an intriguing mystical action scene that I had to reread to really grasp all of the underlying factors that made things possible. I kinda wish that I had read the books that preceded this one in the series ;)

What a great final book in the series! This series was intertwined with the Chiasson series. I wish I read them in order but it was still good separate. I loved Kane and Elise’s story. Two broken people fixing each other 😭

Donna Grant is one of those authors I constantly tell myself to pick up. I often see her books when looking for something new to pick up, be it through a Goodreads recommendation or through the Amazon ‘books you might like’ feature. Thus, when the chance to read Moon Bound came about, I jumped in.

Although this is the fourth book in the LaRue series, it is my first Donna Grant book. While the story did stand by itself quite well, I would recommend reading this series in order. You see, this isn’t quite a full four-star rating. It was extremely close, but the gaps in my knowledge meant I did not appreciate all the elements put forth in this book. Due to this, I rounded up. I also plan to go back and read the prior books – not only to fill in my knowledge gaps, but also because I am interested in reading this series in its entirety.

Despite being an extremely short read, a lot happens in this one. We have a sweet yet steamy romance – one that is a bit of an instalove story, but fun nonetheless. We have some action – some big scenes play out, although I do feel as though the action was rather quick for all that came together. We have plenty of drama – between the characters and relating to specific events. The way things came together was a lot of fun, making for an enjoyable quick read.

Without a doubt, I’ll be reading more of this author. I’ve already gone and downloaded the first book in the LaRue series, and plan to dive into it soon.

Moon Bound is (unfortunately for me) the last book in the LaRue series. I just discovered the series and now it has ended, which is unfortunate. I liked the setting and the characters. The romance was a little rushed, but not on a bad level. Everything was very interesting and I would like to see more of this world. I could read the rest of the books even if I know how the series is going to end. It was very easy to like the book and time flew by when I was reading it. It might be the fourth book in the series, but I had no problem getting into this world and hating the villain. I wanted a longer story. It felt too short. The story has a couple of twists I didn't see coming and that made me like the book even more. I would definitely recommend it even if you haven't read the previous books since it can be read as stand alone.

Moon Bound by Donna Grant is book Four in the "LaRue" series. This is the story of Kane LaRue and Elise. Kane is out to get the Voodoo priestess who has been assaulting his family. Doing this he has been staying more in his wolf form which is how Elise finds him. Elise is starting over and as a vet she tries to help the wolf she finds but ends up with more than a wolf....its Kane. This was a quick exciting read...loved it!

This was fast paced, full of danger and heat.

You feel for kane and his family but especially Kane. He feels like things are his fault and he has guilt on his shoulders. so to allow his family to be protected and enjoy their lives with their loved ones he is going off on his own to end the priestess Delphine. She has caused strife and turmoil in New Orleans and beyond but has really done damage to Kane’s family. And to Kane the most. She has made him a personal mission and he is taking it on his shoulders.

Kane is strong, loving and caring. He is put himself out there so others can be happy and protected even at the expense of his life. All he wants is his family safe and Delphine gone. After all she has put him through it is no wonder he wants this. But in his pursuit of Delphine he meets an equally strong, loving, caring and capable woman Elsie. Elsie has had her own crosses to bear and survive. She is quiet and stays to herself. Finding comfort with animals than people. when she sees Kane in distress , Elsie doesn’t hesitate to help. Only Elise doesn’t see Kane but his wolf side. When Kane emerges she is understanding and holds no judgement. She intrigues him and he is attracted to her.

In the little time of his healing he found his equal in many ways. One he can share his problems and burdens with who listens and doesn’t judge. One he respects and sees as amazing. She is the same. She finds him to be healing and a rock to bear her burdens. He lifts her up and gives her strength and courage.

So when the final showdown comes Elsie and her strength and love for Kane is there giving him strength and courage. His family is as well helping him to stay strong and helping him fight off Delphine’s ways.

In the end love and family rules out and we see Kane find life, love and happiness while him and his family gets peace as well.

A wonderfully fast paced book filled with action and danger. Love and family and finding happiness and who you are meant to spend your days with.

This is the forth book in this series. I have not read the other books in the series and at times felt like I was missing something. So, I suggest reading them in order. Kane LaRue is on a mission to find and destroy voodoo priestess Delphine. She has been after his family for a long time. He feels it is his responsibility to take care of her himself because he is the only single male in his family. Elise has survived a vicious attack and found a new home. Now she lives and works in the bayou. She finds Kane in wolf form being attacked by several other wolves in her front yard. She rescues him and while trying to get him in the house he shifts. There is an attraction between Kane and Elise that both find it hard to fight. Kane has been focused on defending his family for so long he hasn’t really had time to focus on himself and what he wants. Now he finds this wonderfully attractive and fiercely independent woman who wants to help him and take care of him. Staying will put her in danger but he wants to be selfish just this once. Kane wakes feelings in Elise that she hasn’t felt in such a long time. He makes her forget about the parts of herself that she doesn’t like. Could they help each other in unexpected ways? Could Elise be just what Kane needs? I look forward to reading the other books in this series. I really liked Kane and Elise’s characters. I also liked Kane’s brothers and their mates. I can’t wait to read how they came together. Great book Donna.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

It’s sad to see an end come to the LaRues and the Chiassons, as I’ve enjoyed each and every book about this awesome family. AND it was a great ending to that vicious bitch Delphina. Quite enjoyable to finally be rid of her. Nine novellas that made for great reading. I think I might just start them all over again. If you like paranormal you’ve love these novellas.

This story was about Kane and Elise. An incredible couple, right along with the other LaRues: Solomon and Minka, Myles and Addison and Court and Skye, all working together to rid themselves, and New Orleans, of one evil Voodoo priestess.

There was explicit sex in this story and the F-bomb was used 6 times.

I absolutely loved this series. I am heartbroken to see it come to a close.
The only saving grace is that I can read the series start to finish again WITHOUT having to wait for the next book to be released.

••••••••••

REVIEW: MOON BOUND is the fourth and final instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult LaRUE paranormal, romance series focusing on the LaRue family of Louisiana- a spin off from the author’s CHAISSON series. This is werewolf Kane LaRue, and veterinarian Dr. Elise’s story line. MOON BOUND can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory as there is an on-going premise through out as it pertains to voodoo priestess Delphine, who has cursed the siblings as werewolves, in an attempt to seek out and destroy other supernatural powers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Elise and Kane) MOON BOUND is the culmination of several story line and two series that follows Kane LaRue, the remaining unmated LaRue sibling, as he hunts for the voodoo priestess who killed his parents, and destroyed their lives. Under attack from Delphine’s minions, Kane will be rescued and nursed back to health by the local veterinarian, a woman with whom he would fall in love. What ensues is the building romance between Kane and Elise, and the potential fall out as Kane goes rogue to destroy take down the priestess, once and for all.

Elise is a woman whose physical scars are matched by the emotional turmoil of an attack years before. Alone in the Bayou of Louisiana, Elise is the local animal doctor who is about to come across a species she knows nothing about. Kane LaRue isn’t looking for a mate but finding Dr. Elise triggers the beast, and his desire to mate but mating is the last thing on his mind as the couple find themselves surrounded at all times by the priestess’s own pack of evil werewolves.

The relationship between Elise and Kane slow to develop as our heroine continues to nurse Kane LaRue back to health. Our hero is determined to kill the voodoo creature that destroyed all of their lives but in doing so intends to sacrifice himself to save the siblings he left behind. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

All of Kane’s siblings and his cousin Riley play secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Babette, a woman who aided our heroine when she needed it the most; Ed Perkins, an elderly gentleman who knows more than he is letting on; and the requisite evil voodoo priestess Delphine who has crossed over between two series and finally meets her match.

MOON BOUND is a quick read with a bit of a twist; a novella length story line that focuses on the final showdown between good and evil. The premise is charming but the rush to the finish was a bit disappointing; the romance is enticing; the characters are colorful and dynamic. MOON BOUND and the LaRue Series are perfect for lovers of the paranormal romance story lines involving shifters, magic and happily ever afters.

Moon Bound brings an impressive finale to this series. The battle between the Larue family and the voodoo priestest comes to the the most satisfying conclusion.

Kane, the only single one of the Larue brothers is in persuit of Delphine, the deluded and power hungry voodoo priestest. After the last drastic confrontation, he feels responsible for putting things right.

Elise is a veterinarian who moved to the Bayou after going through a traumatic attack. She is grateful to those who helped her and has turned her back on city life. She now helps these friends by tending to their sick and injured animals.

Kane is caught in a storm when he is suddenly attacked. He is outnumbered, but puts up a good fight. Upon witnessing this violence, Elise intervenes and in the process she gets a glimpse of the paranormal. She is not phased in the least and helps him to get back on his feet. Even though her own ordeal has left her with visible scars, she finds the strength to carry on with a normal life.

During Kane's recovery, they develop a comfortable friendship which turns into a different form of attraction. He still wants to finish what he has started without help. He would die for his loved ones. From here on out, everything becomes more tense and the pending and perilous danger makes this a compulsive read.

Delphine is more ruthless than ever and The Larue family don't give up so easily. Their love and loyalty shine. Elise surprises herself and everyone else with her strength of will. Kane and Elise make an ideal couple. I was completely engrossed in this well paced and emotive finale. It's an intriguing and compelling read and I would recommend to fans of the paranormal.

I was kindly issued with an eARC and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

"Moon Bound" by Donna Grant. Book 4 in the LaRue series. *finale*

This last book of the series is about Kane and Elise and I really enjoyed their story. Overlapping two series', the Chiasson series and the LaRue series, we finally see the downfall of the evil Voodoo priestess Delphine.

Kane LaRue is determined to take down Delphine. She cursed his family, him and his three brothers, to become werewolves. She double cursed Kane when she made him try to kill his cousin's wife. Now, he will stop at nothing to end her. But when Kane gets attacked by other werewolves, he's sure he'll die. He didn't expect a human woman to save him. One that makes his wolf want to mate with her immediately. But Kane doesn't have time for lust or love. As soon as he's healed, he's going after Delphine alone. He must keep his family safe....and Elise too.

Elise can't believe she just saved a werewolf. She may be a veterinarian but she's not sure how to treat a werewolf. When he shifts back to human, there is an immediate attraction between them but Kane is determined to sacrifice himself for his family. With issues of violence in her past, she's not sure what to do.

Excellent ending to this series and the Chiasson series as well. Kane and Elise just fit together really well. I really enjoyed the plot twists along the way. Good chemistry between Kane and Elise. To see all the characters from both the Chiasson series and the LaRue series in this one book really game me a feeling of ending. Knowing the connected story line was finally over.

I really enjoyed both series and I do recommend reading both in order of release date.

Werewolf Kane LaRue's family has been battling Delphine, a voodoo priestess who has her mind set on ruling the world, for years. Now things have changes as his brothers, and a number of cousins, have mates. He is single so he takes it upon himself to rid the world of one evil voodoo priestess.

Elise is a veterinarian who after surviving a horrifying event in her past has settled in the bayou. She is living a simple life caring for animals in the area. How could she ever imagine that one night would change her life once again? In an attempt to rescue a very large black dog she comes face to face with the sexiest man she had ever met. This “man” brings out things she just isn't comfortable with but knows that just that quickly her heart is very much involved.

MOON BOUND is the amazing finale of this series. I am a big fan of author Donna Grant, fell for her Warriors and her Dragon Kings a long time ago, but this is the first LaRue book I have had the opportunity to get my hands on. Moon Bound is Kane LaRue's story and wow ... is it action packed, with just the right touch of romance. I loved Elise, right away and knew that if anyone could, Kane would help her see that she still was a woman who deserved to be loved. Kane is a protector, who is willing to do whatever he must to protect his family, to protect the people he loves even commit the biggest sacrifice ... his life. I can't say much more as it could be construed as spoilers and I hate to do that to anyone. Suffice it to say love wins and evil loses.

I love all of the LaRue men!! Well the LaRue wolves. They are the protectors of New Orleans. They have been battling a Voodoo Priestess throughout the series and it all comes to head with Kane’s book.

Kane is the only single one left in his family so he takes it upon himself to track down Delphine and end her reign of terror. What he doesn’t expect is to be injured and have a human stumble upon him wielding a shot gun. Elise has seen a big black “dog” running around the bayou not hurting anyone or getting too close. When she sees a pack of “dogs” attacking the black one she has to do something. Once she scares the others away she has to figure out how to get him into her veterinarian clinic at her house. While she is dragging him in he shifts from wolf to a man. That doesn’t freak her out as much as she thinks it would. After going through her own traumatic attack nothing surprises Elise anymore. While Kane is recovering at Elise’s house/clinic he develops feelings for her, but he makes no promises. He wants to keep her from getting hurt from the fall out of going up against Delphine. They need each other, together they are stronger. Kane is willing to sacrifice everything, even his life so that the others will be free from Delphine’s influence. Will this final showdown be the one where the LaRue’s finally best Delphine?

The fourth book in the LaRue Series by Donna Grant was fun, unique, and filled with a little mystery and suspense. Kane and Elise meet under not so great circumstances and turn something bad into something steady and real.

This is the book we finally get the conclusion that has built up over the past three books the brothers are in. Donna Grant did a good job of keeping this book following quickly. You never set idle during your read, it is always full steam ahead.

Kane LaRue has been after the Voodoo priestess for months and every time he thinks he is close she slips through his paws. The priestess has taken on a new form that he is not sure he will be able to take out alone. But Kane being Kane does not want to burden anyone else with this problem.

That is where we meet the sweet veterinarian who cannot help but help any wounded animal even if it is a massive wolf. Even when she knows others are lurking close by and could harm her she risks it all to save it. She realized it was not a wolf but something much more.

The chemistry between Kane and Elise was sweet at first, Kane knew she was hiding from something like he was and was patient with the good doc. He brought her out of her shell and she helped him realize that somethings should not be handled without some assistance from those that care about you the most.

Elise has started a new life tucked away in the bayou. She will help the community, who helped her put her life back together. She is a vet for small animals and there is plenty of work for her here. It's a much simpler life than the big city.
Kane is spending much of his time in his wolf form while he is hunting. The woman who tried to kill his family using voodoo is out here in the bayou somewhere.
This is the conclusion of the series. It's best if you read it in order, although each book could be read alone. Our characters have a very dangerous enemy to face. Are they strong enough to do it alone?
I have read most of this series and it's very easy to get involved in our characters lives. Lots of magical romance and excitement.

Moon Bound by Donna Grant is the fourth book in the LaRue Series and wraps up both the Chiassons and the LaRue Series.
Reading this book was bittersweet. I loved the story and the characters, but I was sad that they´re now coming to a end.
Moon Bound picks up where the previous book left off. Voodoo pristess Delphine wants to reign over New Orleans and the LaRues try to keep the city and the PNR community safe.
Delphine and Kane are in for the fights of their lives, literally. And when a innocent bystander gets involved Kane is losing his mind. He wants to destroy her so bad, but alone he´s too weak.
Moon Bound kept me at the edge of my seat and I couldn´t put the book down. I give 4 stars.

Their family line was cursed by a voodoo priestess generations ago. Now, they work to keep the peace between all the supernatural beings in New Orleans.

Kane is on a mission. To end the one that has tormented his family and has caused numerous others countless pain and grief. He has no time for a woman - even if that woman saved his life.

Elise prefers to be alone. The scars from her past are both physical and mental. Yet when a large black wolf is injured basically on her doorstep, she works to help save him. But when she turns around, there's a man on her floor.

Moon Bound, the final book in the LaRue series, does not disappoint.

All good in the end

Moon Bound is the last book in the LaRue series. Book 4 picks up with Kane tracking Delphine to the Bayou. Its been months since the last battle and he is determined to put an end to this war by himself. Elise is a veterinarian living in the small bayou community, the first place she feels like she belongs. Elise rescued Kane after he was attacked by werewolves and the rest they say is history.

Oh Kane Kane Kane. The things he went through at Delphine’s hands broke my heart. This was the best ending to the series I could imagine. Kane goes off on his own to hunt Delphine, and while his brothers know he is alive they don’t know where he is. During the hunt Kane finds Elise. Elise is a vet who lives in the part of the bayou Kane has been searching. While I am sad to leave the bayou and these two families behind, this is definitely a series I will revisit often.

What a wonderful ending to the LaRue’s and the Chiassons. I was skeptical because sometimes the last book in the series leaves a lot to be desired but this one definitely had it all. Action, Romance, a joke here and there. It was great. And to see Kane finally get his HEA. No better way to go. Although, I’m hoping we can get a reunion book out of Donna maybe at the last wedding.

Sad to see it end!

Well, it's over. I hung on every page through The Chiassons and then the LaRues enjoying every page. I laughed, I cried, I held my breath with every battle and enjoyed the victories with the characters. If you liked Dragon Kings but haven't read these yet I encourage you to do so.
