Ruarc gave up his true love, Chavonne, years earlier to take care of his family and fulfill obligations. When Chavonne unexpectedly shows up looking for closure, it's like they'd never been apart (even though it's been 300 years!). Then Ruarc has to give her up again when the Fae Six force him to betray his friend, Rordan and the Reapers, or watch everyone he cares about be destroyed. Chavonne has her on run-in with the leader of The Six, L-*itch (perfect name being bandied about). Will everyone survive the upcoming battle? Phew! So much happens in this book. A new Reaper, love lost and found only to be lost again, betrayal, Ulric and Aisling, Erith and her battle swords, meeting the evil leader of The Six (L-*itch), danger, happiness, steamy scenes. And we get a glimpse of the Skye Druids. The last books of this series should be epic. I cannot wait!!!

The Reapers, Erith and their allies are still tackling The Six. Ruarc's family was threatened and he was coerced into working for The Six. But he sees his chance to help overthrow him and makes contact with the newest Reaper, his brother-in-law. He has nothing to lose anymore, o one else to love that the leaders don't know about, no one else they can threaten. except just as he makes this momentous decision Chevonne drops back into his life. Chevonne has always kept Ruarc in the back of her mind. It may have been decades since they were together but no-one has ever matched him in her mind. Her latest beau leaves her cold, she's only really dating him to keep her family happy. Ruarc dropping into her life is a big wrinkle. Chevonne and Ruarc are incendiary together and fall back into each others arms after a false start or two. You will need a hankie or three - this pair is going through the mill and tragedy awaits them. This series just goes from strength to strength.

Back to the Reapers!!!! Love this series and all the twists and turns that come with it. We met Ruarc in Rordan's story Dark Alpha's Obsession. Ruarc is taken by the Others and is forced to work with them. Dark Alpha's Passion explains why and the twist to the Others that kept me up late into the night reading. Donna Grant once again brings us an incredible read with magic, Fae, action, adventure, new characters and of course the Reapers, Caid, and Death herself. This is a series, so if you start with this book, you will be a little lost on who all the characters are and where the plot is going. But I can't recommend this series highly enough, because the writing is great, the characters are magnificent and the twist and turns in each book in the series is so worth the ride.
